ANNOUNCEMENT:
I have accepted a teaching position at Piper Middle School in the Piper School District! My assignment will be speech and drama, 6-8th grade. There are no adjectives that adequately describes how excited I am to begin a teaching career in earnest (not to take away from substitute teaching or student teaching). I've already created a twitter account exclusively for education purposes @TheLearningCay for networking, sharing strategies, and addressing issues in the field of teaching.
I'm looking forward to meeting the kids and working and learning from a terrific administration (to whom I will forever be grateful and indebted). Anyway, yeah... I'm a real life pirate now, me hearties. Yo ho!

Welcome to Me Own Island!
Hello and welcome to Me Own Island! As the author of this website, I should probably tell you up front: I don't really know what the purpose of it is, or even what it is. When I moved away from home I would write an open "newsletter" to my friends and family each month to keep everyone abreast of my activities. When I moved back home, that task evolved (or DEvolved) into what you see in front of you: Me Own Island.
It's a work in progress, so things will probably change over time. I'm working on archiving the old newsletters and posting various other writing I've done over the years. Anyway, I'm in the infant stage of what I hope will be something you find interesting and worth your (and my) time. Thanks for visiting - I hope you'll come back!
